[Château Haut-Blanville] 1955 Grés de Montpellier Syrah 2017

Spicy with a sweet underlay of baked
fruit and prunes and purple-fig jam.
Tobacco-leaf-scented plums in the
mouth, with the figs and prunes creating
sweet intensity along the edges but
there is beautiful freshness through the
core. Chewy and very slightly stemmy
tannins, which will melt with time and/
or a good stew (vegetarian or meat).
Rose-petal charm on the finish.
