Steeped in history and heritage, Lourensford was established in the year 1700 and was once part of Willem Adriaan van der Stel’s Vergelegen, Current owner and businessman Christo Wiese purchased the farm in 1998, planted the vines in 2000 and constructed the estate’s ultra-modern winery in 2002. The first wines were vinified in 2003. Lourensford is a champion member of the Biodiversity & Wine Initiative, which means that more than 10% of the farm is set aside for conservation.
